Whilst hardwood mouldings will not be front of mind when your customer is choosing their new wood floor, at WFA we believe they are an important part of the process.

Adesiv

WFA are the exclusive UK distributor of Adesiv. They have been growing as a company for 40 years thanks to the continuing investment into the research and development sector, plus their own installation of an advanced technological plant for the production of raw materials. The successful evolution of their products for the preparation of engineered and solid wood floors gives us, and you as the user, a confidence in each and every adhesive, filler, primer etc.

Listed below are the essential items needed whether you are installing, finishing or maintaining an engineered or solid wood floor, herringbone blocks, battens or parquet.

Among the products we stock mention must be made to the Adegloss 10. This is a hygro-hardening expanding polyurethane resin that can be used before and after the installation of flooring. Ideally used for small repairs of strips that have not perfectly bonded to the subfloor, it has a UNIQUE swelling characteristic that allows the filling of empty spaces.

Bona

Hermes

Germany is the home of Hermes, but Hermes Abrasives UK Ltd has been conveniently located in Colchester since 1985, this makes ordering and re-stocking for us at WFA a speedy process.

Within the flooring trade there are four types of abrasive grains typically used; Aluminium Oxide or Ali Oxide, Silicone Carbide, Zirconia or Zirc and Ceramic Grain.

Ali Oxide is a sharp, blocky mineral renewing its cutting edges as you work. It has what is known as a friability characteristic and fragments under the heat and pressure generated whilst sanding. The extreme hardiness of this abrasive means that it does not substantially dull before it fragments, thus undoubtedly making Ali Oxide the more economical abrasive.

Silicone Carbide, long and thin in nature, there are no choices on this particular abrasive. It’s tougher and sharper than most Ali Oxide options, breaking into smaller pieces when in use and for this reason it does mean that it will not renew its cutting edges whilst fragmenting. When working you will find that you sand at a much better rate in the first instance but this mineral will dull a lot quicker than Ali Oxide. Use as a perfect solution for sanding ceramic finishes from wood or cutting back lacquers.

Zirconia, the grain on this mineral is again significantly tougher than Ali Oxide, it is a man made material using both this and zircon. When using these belts, as the grain breaks down under the heat and pressure of heavy grinding stress, it fragments into smaller jagged pieces. It has a great cut rate, a long life and is perfect for sanding wood, especially the coarser grits.

Ceramic Grain abrasives are to a higher degree more sensitive to both the heat and pressure of sanding. When in use the micro-crystalline structure of the mineral breaks into smaller razor-like pieces before it dulls. We do not stock these but can order them in.

Junckers

Produced in Denmark, Junckers have been supplying lacquers to the world since the 1950’s. They pride themselves on keeping their products up to date with the materials and technology available using their own technical research teams.

Developed with the intention of use on either commercial, residential or sports hall areas their priming and lacquer product range that we have at WFA covers surface treatment, maintenance or the refurbishment of solid wood floors.

Lecol

Lecol is a part of the Loba and Wakol family group with over 45 years in the industry. Their products are regular items on many of our customer’s orders requiring adhesives or fillers for either the installation / refurbishment of parquet and other wood floors.

Lecol 5500 is a ready to use, alcohol-based adhesive for wood blocks, plywood, mosaic panels and parquet.

It is suitable on the installation of both absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors for universal application. Another product that proves popular would be the Lecol 7500 filler. Loba

Loba is renowned in the flooring industry as the surface specialist for the flooring specialist. Bringing over 90 years of experience to the table and a partnership with Wakol, this brand has something to choose from whether you require a lacquer, stain, professional cleaning or care product and now the Connected Systems. For more information on this please give us a call.

LOBADUR® is their 1 or 2 component waterborne finishing system that offers lacquers with a broad range of applications. There are different properties and foot traffic recommendations with each product, and alternative end finishes for stained floors including anti-slip, matt, semi gloss etc. The primers within the range also have their advantages as they do not leave lap marks and also minimise side bonding.

Osmo

Protecting wood from the inside out - filler’s, oil’s and maintenance products.

Osmo’s complete product range is environmentally friendly and based on natural and renewable vegetable oils, all with a very low-VOC content. As well as this, the superb performance of the Osmo Polyx Oils means there isn’t any kind of film formed on the wood, but there is a protected, microporous, hardwearing and extremely durable surface created, perfect for residential projects!

Rustins

Rustins are renowned for making wood beautiful inside and outside. This solvent based wood dye is ideal for the application to new bare wood or that has been stripped. It’s a fast drying, non-fading product perfect for floors, skirting boards, bannisters or staircases.

Rustins Wood Dye

Wakol

Wakol are market leaders in the supply of adhesive and floor preparation products. Using high quality glues when adhering your parquet, herringbone blocks or planks to any subfloor will absolutely reduce shrinkage and any expanded movement within the flooring. Thus contributing to the longevity of the floor and limiting the development of gaps or seams plus helping against the noise of footfall, especially if also laying the sound reduction TS103 underlay.
