Adesiv

WFA are the exclusive UK distributor of Adesiv. Listed below are the essential items needed whether you are installing, finishing or maintaining an engineered or solid wood floor, herringbone blocks, battens or parquet.

Among the products we stock mention must be made to the Adegloss 10. This is a hygro-hardening expanding polyurethane resin that can be used before and after the installation of flooring. Ideally used for small repairs of strips that have not perfectly bonded to the subfloor, it has a UNIQUE swelling characteristic that allows the filling of empty spaces.

Hermes

Germany is the home of Hermes, but Hermes Abrasives UK Ltd has been conveniently located in Colchester since 1985, this makes ordering and re-stocking for us at WFA a speedy process.

Within the flooring trade there are four types of abrasive grains typically used; Aluminium Oxide or Ali Oxide, Silicone Carbide, Zirconia or Zirc and Ceramic Grain.

Ali Oxide is a sharp, blocky mineral renewing its cutting edges as you work. It has what is known as a friability characteristic and fragments under the heat and pressure generated whilst sanding. The extreme hardiness of this abrasive means that it does not substantially dull before it fragments, thus undoubtedly making Ali Oxide the more economical abrasive.

Silicone Carbide, long and thin in nature, there are no choices on this particular abrasive. It’s tougher and sharper than most Ali Oxide options, breaking into smaller pieces when in use and for this reason it does mean that it will not renew its cutting edges whilst fragmenting. When working you will find that you sand at a much better rate in the first instance but this mineral will dull a lot quicker than Ali Oxide. Use as a perfect solution for sanding ceramic finishes from wood or cutting back lacquers.

Zirconia, the grain on this mineral is again significantly tougher than Ali Oxide, it is a man made material using both this and zircon. When using these belts, as the grain breaks down under the heat and pressure of heavy grinding stress, it fragments into smaller jagged pieces. It has a great cut rate, a long life and is perfect for sanding wood, especially the coarser grits.

Ceramic Grain abrasives are to a higher degree more sensitive to both the heat and pressure of sanding. When in use the micro-crystalline structure of the mineral breaks into smaller razor-like pieces before it dulls. We do not stock these but can order them in.

Lecol

Lecol is a part of the Loba and Wakol family group with over 45 years in the industry. Their products are regular items on many of our customer’s orders requiring adhesives or fillers for either the installation / refurbishment of parquet and other wood floors.

Lecol 5500 is a ready to use, alcohol-based adhesive for wood blocks, plywood, mosaic panels and parquet.

It is suitable on the installation of both absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors for universal application. Another product that proves popular would be the Lecol 7500 filler. Osmo

Protecting wood from the inside out - filler’s, oil’s and maintenance products.

Osmo’s complete product range is environmentally friendly and based on natural and renewable vegetable oils, all with a very low-VOC content. As well as this, the superb performance of the Osmo Polyx Oils means there isn’t any kind of film formed on the wood, but there is a protected, microporous, hardwearing and extremely durable surface created, perfect for residential projects!

If a floor isn’t looked after using the correct products then it will start to look tired!
