Stained Oak Flooring
Rich, handsome 'stained' oak flooring, crafted for homes that want real depth of colour with the warmth and character that only real oak can deliver.

Oak floors with colour, character and built to last.
There's a big difference between a floor that has colour and one that has been coloured. With stained oak, the stain soaks into the grain and works with the natural figuring of the wood — knots, character marks and all. Nothing is masked. The result is depth you can actually see, and a finish that painted or laminate floors simply can't replicate.
Old houses, new builds, extensions and everything in between that you want to feel like they've been there since the start — stained oak handles all of it. The colour range means there's no single look to it, dark and dramatic at one end, light and understated at the other. Kitchens, hallways, living rooms — wherever it goes, it beds in rather than fades out.

Why Stained Oak Flooring?

- Engineered construction keeps boards stable with underfloor heating

- Suits contemporary, Scandi, industrial and traditional interior design styles
- FSC and PEFC certified options, responsibly sourced as standard

Information about stained oak floors
What is stained oak flooring?
Stained oak flooring is oak engineered to have the colour driven into the grain during manufacture, not painted or printed onto the surface. The wood still reads as wood — knots, figuring, character and all — just with a richer or deeper tone depending on the stain you choose. It's the difference between a floor that looks like it's been finished and one that looks like it simply is that colour.
Is stained oak flooring suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes, provided it's engineered by WFA. Solid oak and underfloor heating are a bad combination as the wood moves as temperatures fluctuate and causes problems over time. Engineered boards are built to handle underfloor heating as long as the installation is done properly — with the correct adhesive or floating method and adequate expansion gaps. The heating should come up to temperature gradually, before and after fitting. If you want advice on the right spec for your project, we're the right people to ask.
How long does stained oak flooring last?
A well-laid stained oak floor should last decades. The engineered construction means the boards stay stable, and the wear layer on quality boards can be lightly sanded and refinished if needed — although with a stained finish it's usually a case of re-oiling rather than a full refurb. The stain itself sits within the wood, so it doesn't peel or chip the way a surface coating can. Kept clean and re-oiled periodically, a WFA stained oak floor is realistically a once-in-a-generation purchase for most homes. It also performs well in light commercial settings thanks to the durability of the engineered construction.
